My first love in product manufacturing is Footwear.
Since I was a little curly hair grommet, I have wanted to design my own set of shoes. It's something I have been chasing for years and years - in fact, it is something I have wanted so badly, throughout my lifetime, that I took up work in the Footwear Industry right out of college just to learn more about how footwear products are made, sold and marketed in the space - so that someday, I could do it on my own.
After more than a decade in footwear development and sales, I'm finally bumping elbows with the best of 'em and it's got even more magical zest than I could have imagined. SeaVees is one of the OG Plimsoll brands and for me, growing up in Southern California, Plimsolls were everything.
That said, I am absolutely honored to have an Imperfects pair of SeaVees in the wardrobe and in the yearbook - its a unique opportunity that I didn't think I would ever have a shot at. Now that we are here, I highly recommend grabbing a pair as these things are super-charged with details and I gave 'em my all (deeper meaning, sustainability and everyday, wearability).
The squad at SeaVees is First Class and I am so stoked to call them life-long homies at this point. Major love Fam. - Mike

Imperfects Sneaker in Natural Organic Duck Canvas
Through our Soles we are United
Mike's concept here is to speak directly to the differences in all of us through a pair of shoes; firstly, in a more literal sense, with an optimistic and fairly self-explanatory poem and secondly, with a more abstract point of view, with two opposing sneakers that are built on the same platform... aren't we all different but the same, anyway?
The Left shoe or the Seavees original untouched Legend Pattern is representative of the left brain which finds peace in methodical movement (a sneaker that has been an everyday utility to so many folks for over 64 years is safe to call methodical and we had to honor that) and the Right Shoe represents The Imperfections in all of us and Imperfects approach to living The Human Experience, in the right brain, consistently artistic and never perfectly flowing but always ending in a place of function via self-expression. All of this to say, this pair of shoes will look like they match from afar but once you dig into the details, you'll quickly realize that there is much more difference to behold... kind of a metaphor for life.
Ultimately, they are a reminder to remain in chase of balance and to realize that when you blend polar opposites, you usually end up with something magical, like the color purple.
